![]() Basically, there was a time in the not-so-distant-past when installing a game was marginally more interesting than watching a progress bar slowly fill.Ĭommand & Conquer had some of the best install programs, building the world before the player even touched the game proper. ![]() If you weren’t there, you probably have no idea what I mean. Wait, installation sequences? I guess we should back up and explain, because even the concept of an “installation sequence” is a time capsule straight from 1995. When you launch Tiberian Dawn or Red Alert for the first time, you’re treated to incredible reworks of the original installation sequences. The love is evident from the very first minute. Petroglyph-founded by ex-Westwood employees-has done an amazing job polishing 1995’s Command & Conquer (retroactively subtitled Tiberian Dawn) and 1996’s follow-up/spin-off Command & Conquer: Red Alert. Let me first say: These are loving remasters. I haven’t had the same issue with Tiberian Dawn. I’ll be keeping an eye on the early Steam reviews to see if this is a widespread issue. On top of that, you'll also be able to listen to TIberian Dawn music while playing Red Alert and vice versa.Note: I’ve noticed occasional slowdown and stuttering in Red Alert. ![]() Every variant of these tracks will be included in the remasters (low fidelity without voices, originals remastered with voices and the fully remastered classic tracks), and players will be able to listen to them and create playlists through the returning Jukebox feature. The Command and Conquer Remastered soundtrack will feature around 10 hours of music spread across 175 tracks. If the only thing remastered was the music that’d be fine by us. Klepacki’s worked on all the series and is responsible for all of the franchise’s epic soundtracks, so it’s wonderful that he’s back. The UI is considerably slicker than the original, providing easier access to more build options and overall just looking better on modern displays.Ĭommand and Conquer Remastered Music ComposerĪrguably the most exciting piece of news is that legendary composer Frank Klepacki is being brought back to re-score the games. Players will be able to return to the strategy classics or try them out for the first time on June 5, 2020.Ĭommand and Conquer Remastered will launch with a completely overhauled UI that features four tabs dedicated to buildings, infantry units, vehicles and something else that we can't quite pinpoint at the moment. ![]() We’d rather just have full remakes of C&C1 and Red Alert 1 to be honest, and just a Command and Conquer 4K re-release of the rest.Ĭommand and Conquer Remastered Release DateĬommand and Conquer Remastered now has an official release date. Generals, C&C3: Tiberium Wars and Red Alert 3 in full settings still look good today. C&C: Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 may be 2D, but they both still look pretty stylish and playable. That’s a lot of content, and it will all be released in one single package - with no extra microtransactions.Īs for the remaining games in the series? To be honest, only the first games in each series really need the full Remaster treatment. All expansion packs will be included too - that’s Covert Ops, Counterstrike, and Aftermath. ![]() The Command & Conquer games that will receive the remaster treatment will be the first Command & Conquer (Tiberian Dawn) and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 1. ![]()
